Galerie Kornfeld was founded in 2011 by Alfred Kornfeld and his fellow partners Anne Langmann and Mamuka Bliadze. The program of the gallery ranges from young contemporary positions to pioneering artists of the avant-garde and beyond. Representing a combination of emerging and established artists and estates, the gallery is committed to contributing to a contemporary discourse alongside a reevaluation of artists from the past through a multidisciplinary and varied scope, covering artistic positions such as painting, drawing and graphics, photography and video, to sculpture and expansive installations. As in the case of photographers Stéphane Couturier or Hubertus Hamm, the boundaries of the medium in which the artists are working in are often explored and challenged. Galerie Kornfeld has successfully represented lesser-known or sometimes overlooked artists both in Berlin and internationally through art fair participations such as Frieze New York. Furthermore the gallery has facilitated public commissions for many of its artists notably both an 8.5 meter kinetic sculpture in Vietnam and a 18m kinetic sculpture in China, inaugurated in 2019 by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze. Furthermore, the gallery has collaborated with international curators. In 2014, in addition to the gallery, the project space 68projects was founded. Across the road from the gallery at Fasanenstrasse 68, 68projects is dedicated to a diverse curatorial exhibition program and offers subsidised residencies for emerging international artists (such as Farshad Farzankia, Tom Anholt, Jennifer Packer, Yevgeniya Baras and more) throughout the year in collaboration with international and regional curators (including Adrianne Rubenstein, Omar López-Chahoud and others).
