Trained as a graphic designer at Lette Verein in Berlin, discovered her passion to paint as an artist Irene Wedell and dealt with the themes of nature, emancipation, sexuality and spiritual awakening. She developed the structure of her art from the interplay between nature and the „self“ and documented this process in an intense, colorful and dark- but in a playful way. The empathic-narrative aspect of her work is expressed in her pictures, art books and text-based works as well as in conceptual works and collages.
In her collages she combines nature, color and brushstrokes and in part even applied natural elements of
Berlin landscape (leaves, twigs, seeds) onto handmade paper with thread and needles; one observes her capacity to combining different aspects of her creative work as a collector, artist and fashion designer.
